Description
The Project Overview
Studio Orange was commissioned by Holyoake to produce a flagship service film and a series of client testimonial films focused on their Mental Health and Suicide Prevention services. Our brief was to showcase Holyoake’s comprehensive support model, humanise mental health experiences, and build approachable visual assets that reduce stigma and encourage individuals across Western Australia to reach out for support.
The Challenge
How do you address sensitive, deeply personal topics, such as mental ill-health, trauma, and suicidal ideation—in a way that feels safe, compassionate, and empowering? The challenge was balancing informative, service-level details with raw, authentic lived experience, creating a visual narrative that demystifies the support process without feeling clinical or overwhelming.
Creative Approach
We structured the production around an empathetic, human-first filming framework designed to put contributors at ease while capturing authentic stories of hope and recovery.
Safe Studio Environment: We hosted pieces-to-camera inside our Perth studio, offering a controlled, comfortable space where staff and lived-experience talent could share their stories with warmth and dignity.
No Pressure B-Roll: To complement studio interviews, we captured naturalB-roll footage in the surrounding streets and spaces of Northbridge. This anchored the stories in everyday life, visually presenting recovery as a relatable, achievable journey. Nothing was staged or performed. All B-roll was captured in natural and relaxed environments.
The Execution
From gentle interview pacing to B-roll sequences, every aspect of the shoot was executed with care and precision. Filmed on location at our studio and surrounding neighborhoods, we worked closely with Holyoake’s team and lived-experience contributors to capture genuine moments of connection, ensuring every frame reflected the warmth, respect, and non-judgmental support that define Holyoake.
The Result
The final video suite serves as a compassionate, high-impact storytelling tool that elevates Holyoake’s brand identity and showcases their vital work across WA. It provides Holyoake with versatile digital assets for their website, social media campaigns, and community outreach, helping drive awareness and encourage help-seeking behavior.
The final deliverables included a flagship 2-minute Service Film, a 30–60 second social media edit (4:5 ratio), and 2 x 1-minute Consumer Testimonial films sharing real lived-experience journeys.
