One event, content all year.
Description
As official Animation & Production Partner for State of Social, we make the launch films, social series, airport ads, event screen content and on-the-ground capture for Perth’s digital and social marketing conference.
Client and challenge
State of Social is an Australian conference for digital and social marketers, founded by Meg Coffey and held at Optus Stadium in Perth. 2026 was its ninth year.
An annual event needs content well before and well after its two days. There are launch films to sell tickets, a run of social posts in the lead-up, screen content and speaker introductions on the day, and footage to carry into next year. State of Social needed all of it in one look, from one team.
What we made (SOS26)
Studio Orange was the official Animation & Production Partner of State of Social 2026. We started from the event’s theme, Friction, and built a motion styleguide that carried it across every piece:
- Launch films. “This Is State of Social ’26” (64 seconds), a 31-second cut and a vertical version, plus launch banners and end frames.
- Walk and Talk. A series of short pieces with founder Meg Coffey answering one question each: why she started State of Social, coffee or tea, what friction means, why Perth, where the industry is going and what’s next.
- Vibe Check. Five short kinetic-type and footage pieces: The Room, Friction, The People, Perth and The Conversation.
- Perth Airport ads. Sequenced creatives welcoming delegates, for State of Social’s digital out-of-home campaign on JCDecaux’s Perth Airport screens. Campaignifi ran the media, timed to flight arrivals.
- Event opener. A theatrical “box” intro with VFX to open the conference.
- Speaker intros and screen content. Animated speaker introductions and content for the stadium’s screens.
- Recap. “Worth the friction: the full SOS26 recap” (3:44).

End frames, 16:9 and vertical.

Live capture. B-roll, activations, keynotes and vox pops across both days.
The SOS26 motion system
We designed the SOS26 motion system around State of Social’s logo. It sets out the colours, jagged shapes and textures used across the SOS26 films and social content.

How it works as ongoing content
State of Social runs on a yearly cycle, and our work runs through it:
- Launch (February). A launch film about six months out. We made the launch films for SOS24 (Feb 2024), SOS25 (Feb 2025) and SOS26 (Feb 2026).
- Lead-up (May to August). Short series pieces for State of Social to release week by week. Walk and Talk and Vibe Check pieces went out on State of Social’s YouTube channel from May to July 2026.
- Arrival (event week). Airport ads greet delegates as they land in Perth.
- The event (August). The opener, speaker intros and screen content run in the venue while our crew captures footage.
- After the event. A recap and reels from the captured footage. After SOS25 we produced a set of reels from September to November 2025. SOS26 content is rolling out now.
We keep the motion styleguide and footage library from year to year, so each cycle starts with assets already in place.

“…the creative from Studio Orange captures the theme perfectly. It’s the welcome I’ve always wanted to give our attendees.”
